After booking your class, come to our school on the scheduled day and time.

• Bring a water bottle
• Wear flip-flops or slides
• Wear comfortable workout clothes (no need for a gi on the first day)

Hiago Freitas

Jiu-Jitsu Instructor

Gialysson “Hiago” Adao started training Jiu Jitsu at 16 in Vila Isabel, Rio de Janeiro, and quickly fell in love with the sport. After winning his first competition just 1.5 months in, he committed fully to his journey. Overcoming challenges in the favela with the support of his mother and coaches, he built a successful career. A decorated competitor in Brazil and the U.S., he’s also an official IBJJF referee. Today, he’s a black belt and head instructor at Arte Suave Jiu Jitsu in Charlotte, NC.

James Walsh

Jiu-Jitsu Instructor

James “Jimbo” Walsh, a lifelong martial artist, was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by his young son, Declan. At age 40, he joined GF Team Massachusetts under Robson “Mau Mau” Rodrigues and quickly fell in love with the art. After moving to Charlotte, he continued training under Coach John Piper. Jimbo earned bronze at the 2018 IBJJF World Masters and became Brown Belt World Champion in 2019, where he also received his black belt. Today, he’s co-owner and instructor at Arte Suave Jiu Jitsu, driven by his passion for the sport and its power to transform lives.
